  • 1 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 8–10 wooden or metal skewers If using wooden skewers, soak in water for 20 minutes to prevent burning.

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or prepare a grill for medium heat.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper.
  • Add Brussels sprouts and toss to coat evenly.
  • Thread Brussels sprouts onto skewers, leaving a small space between each piece.

Cooking

  • Arrange skewers on a baking sheet or grill and roast/grill for 15–20 minutes, turning halfway, until tender and caramelized.
  • Serve warm as a sweet-savory side dish or appetizer.
  • For extra flavor, drizzle with additional maple syrup just before serving.

Notes

Serve alongside grilled chicken or fish, or with a fresh salad. For added crunch, pre-roast Brussels sprouts for 10 minutes before skewering. Experiment by adding minced garlic or cayenne for flavor.
