  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon Adds desired crunch and flavor. Turkey bacon can be used as a healthier option.
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup Elevates the dish; honey can be used as a substitute if needed.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil Optional, but helps achieve golden crunch if bacon isn’t enough.
  • to taste salt Essential for seasoning.
  • to taste pepper Essential for seasoning.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) for optimal crispiness of the Brussels sprouts.
  • Trim Brussels sprouts by removing stem ends and any yellow or damaged outer leaves. Halve them for better roasting.
  • Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Transfer cooked bacon to a plate lined with paper towels, leaving about a tablespoon of grease in the skillet.

Cooking

  • In the skillet with reserved grease, add halved Brussels sprouts cut-side down and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until browned.
  • Pour in maple syrup and add salt and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
  • Transfer the Brussels sprouts to a baking sheet, spreading them out in a single layer. Bake for 15-20 minutes until tender and crispy.
  • In the last few minutes of baking, add the crispy bacon on top of the sprouts to heat through. Serve warm.

Notes

For best results, ensure Brussels sprouts are not overcrowded on the pan. Stir in a splash of balsamic vinegar just before serving for added tang.
