  • 400 g San Marzano Tomaten Use quality San Marzano tomatoes for the best flavor.
  • 4 g Salz Adjust according to taste preference.
  • 6 leaves Basilikumblätter
  • 1 EL Olivenöl

Preparation

  • Place the tomatoes in a bowl and sprinkle with salt.
  • Tear the basil leaves and add them to the bowl.
  • Add the olive oil.
  • Using your hands or a fork, mash and mix everything together until no large chunks remain. Alternatively, you can press the tomatoes through a metal sieve or a food mill.

Notes

To store, place the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4-5 days, or freeze in portions for longer storage. Reheat on low heat when ready to use. For variations, consider adding red pepper flakes, oregano, or lemon zest for different flavors.
