Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb elbow macaroni Use your preferred pasta shape.
  • 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to mix in other types for added flavor!
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Panko adds an extra crunch!

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  4. Once melted, whisk in the flour until you achieve a smooth paste.
  5. Gradually stir in the milk, continuing to mix until the sauce begins to thicken, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Remove the pan from heat and stir in 3 cups of cheddar cheese until it melts into a smooth sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni, thoroughly mixing.
  8. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top and then add breadcrumbs.
Baking
  1. Bake in your preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  2. Serve hot, and enjoy every cheesy bite!

Notes

Get creative by serving with fresh herbs or alongside a salad. If you have leftovers, let them cool before storing in an airtight container.
