Ingredients
  

Corn Dog Fillings
  • 1 lb ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or plant-based alternative.
  • 1 cup cooked macaroni
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup crispy bacon, chopped
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1/4 cup diced pickles
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 package hot dog buns Typically contains 8 buns.
  • 6 hot dogs
  • 6 slices American cheese
  • 6 slices cooked bacon
Batter Ingredients
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
For Frying
  • as needed Vegetable oil For frying.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked macaroni, cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, diced onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Slice a slit down the length of each hot dog and stuff it with a slice of American cheese and a slice of bacon.
  3. Fill each hot dog bun with the loaded mac cheeseburger mixture and insert a stuffed hot dog into each bun.
Batter Preparation
  1. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and milk to create a smooth batter.
Frying
  1. Dip each loaded hot dog into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a pot or deep fryer until it reaches 350°F.
  3. Carefully lower the battered hot dogs into the hot oil and fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Remove from the oil and let drain on paper towels.

Notes

Serve hot with extra ketchup and mustard on the side for dipping. Consider pairing with crispy French fries or coleslaw.
