Ingredients
  

For the cake

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 3 pieces eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

For the Jell-O

  • 1 box lime Jell-O gelatin mix
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water

For the topping

  • 1 cup whipped topping
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • to taste Lime zest for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan with cooking spray.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake according to package instructions.
  • Once baked, allow the cake to cool completely.

Adding the Jell-O

  • In a separate bowl, dissolve the lime Jell-O in boiling water, then stir in the cold water.
  • Poke holes in the cooled cake using a fork and pour the Jell-O mixture over the cake.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to soak in.

Final Preparation

  • In another bowl, beat together whipped topping, cream cheese, and powdered sugar until smooth.
  • Spread this mixture over the cooled cake before serving.
  • Garnish with lime zest if desired.

Notes

Ensure the cake is completely cooled before poking holes for the Jell-O. Use freshly squeezed lime juice for a stronger lime taste. Adjust the sweetness of the topping by adding more or less powdered sugar as per preference. Store tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
