  • 14 oz can of tomato sauce
  • 14 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 4 cups chicken broth For richer flavor, try using homemade chicken broth
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 10 oz bowtie pasta Feel free to swap out for your favorite type
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp steak seasoning
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp ground black pepper
  • 0.5 cup ricotta To make the soup extra creamy, stir in more ricotta just before serving
  • to taste Freshly grated Parmesan cheese Sprinkle extra on top for an authentic Italian touch
  • for garnish Fresh parsley

Cooking
  1. Start by browning the Italian sausage in your slow cooker until it’s nicely cooked through.
  2. Next, stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, chicken broth, water, minced garlic, and all of the seasonings.
  3. Cover your slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 4-6 hours.
  4. About 30 minutes before serving time, add in the bowtie pasta, giving it a gentle stir to combine.
  5. Once the pasta is perfectly tender, serve the warm soup topped with creamy ricotta, grated Parmesan, and a sprinkle of fresh parsley.

Notes

For serving, consider pairing with rustic bread for dipping or a fresh side salad. If you want a little heat, add crushed red pepper flakes along with the seasonings. Customize by adding vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for extra nutrients.
