  • 1 cup butter Make sure the butter is at room temperature for easier creaming.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Feel free to swap for peanut butter chips for a unique twist.
  • 1 cup caramel sauce Drizzle extra on top before serving for added sweetness.
  • 1 cup pecans (chopped) Can be replaced with walnuts or omitted for a nut-free version.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, oats, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  5. Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  6. Pour caramel sauce over the batter, then sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped pecans on top.
  7. Top with remaining batter.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer storage, refrigerate or freeze. Reheat in the microwave for a few seconds as needed.
