Preparation

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Stir in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until golden.
  • Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and water, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  • Add the onion powder, white pepper, and sea salt.
  • Bring to a simmer and let it thicken, stirring frequently.
  • Adjust seasoning with more salt if needed.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

KFC gravy is best served hot over fried chicken, mashed potatoes, or biscuits. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Thaw and reheat gently on the stove.
