  • 12 pieces Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 1 pound slices of turkey Cooked or deli turkey
  • 6 slices crunchy bacon Cooked until crispy
  • 1 large juicy tomatoes Sliced
  • 2 cups cheese For homemade cheese sauce, shredded or cubed
  • 1 cup milk For cheese sauce
  • 1/4 cup butter For cheese sauce
  • 1/4 cup flour For cheese sauce
  • to taste seasonings (salt, pepper, etc.) Adjust according to your preference
  • optional glaze For extra flavor before baking

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, then stir in flour to create a roux.
  • Gradually add milk, whisking until smooth.
  • Add cheese and stir until melted and creamy.
  • Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half, and layer the turkey, bacon, and tomatoes.
  • Pour the cheese sauce over the fillings, then top with the other half of the rolls.
  • Brush with glaze if desired.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden and heated through.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

For added flavor, season the cheese sauce with garlic powder or cayenne pepper. Use leftover turkey or chicken for a quicker meal. If you want a crispy topping, sprinkle some breadcrumbs on top before baking. These sliders can be made in advance and baked when ready to serve.
