Ingredients
  

For the cake

  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

For the ricotta filling

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For serving (optional)

  • Chocolate syrup For drizzling
  • Whipped cream For topping

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, milk, and vegetable oil until well combined.
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking pan.

Filling

  • In another bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
  • Spread this mixture over the batter in the pan, then pour the remaining cake batter on top.

Baking

  • Bake for about 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool, then serve drizzled with chocolate syrup and topped with whipped cream if desired.

Notes

Store any leftover pieces in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze for up to a month wrapped in plastic wrap and foil. Use accurate measurements for best results.
