Ingredients

For the Caramel Pretzels
  • 1 cup pretzel bites
  • 1/2 cup honey Can substitute agave syrup for a vegan option.
  • 1/4 cup beer Your choice, lager works well.
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
For the Beer-Infused Cheese Drizzle
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup beer Use remaining beer for the cheese drizzle.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread the pretzel bites evenly on a baking sheet and bake for about 5-7 minutes until they become crisp.
Make the Caramel
  1. In a saucepan, mix together the honey, 1/4 cup beer, and sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens into a caramel sauce.
  2. Remove the saucepan from heat and incorporate the heavy cream, stirring until combined.
  3. Dip each pretzel bite into the warm caramel sauce and return them to a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool.
Make the Cheese Drizzle
  1. In a separate saucepan, melt the cheddar cheese along with the remaining 1/4 cup beer over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the beer-infused cheese over the cooled caramel pretzel bites and serve them warm.

Notes

For a cozy night in, serve alongside a small bowl of extra caramel for dipping. Pair with craft beers to enhance flavors. Garnish with sea salt or crushed red pepper flakes.
