Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 7-8 pieces roma tomatoes (quartered and deseeded) Use ripe tomatoes for best flavor.
  • ½ medium red onion (diced)
  • 2 pieces jalapeños (ends trimmed, seeds and membrane removed if desired) Leave seeds for more heat.
  • ½ cup cilantro (thick stems removed)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ½ lime juiced Freshly squeezed lime juice is preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt Adjust to taste.
  • ½ teaspoon granulated sugar Balances the acidity.
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cumin Optional spice for flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Start by washing all the vegetables. Quarter and deseed the Roma tomatoes. Dice the red onion, and if you want milder salsa, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeños. Chop the cilantro, being sure to remove any thick stems, and mince the garlic.

Combining Ingredients

  • Place all the prepared ingredients into the bowl of your food processor. Don’t forget to add the lime juice and spices!

Processing the Salsa

  • Pulse the ingredients together in the food processor. Do this until you reach your preferred salsa consistency. For chunkier salsa, pulse less. For smoother salsa, pulse more. Make sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

Taste and Adjust

  • Before transferring the salsa to a serving bowl, give it a taste. Adjust the seasoning by adding more salt, lime juice, sugar, or spice as needed.

Chilling

  • For the best flavor, cover the salsa and refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes before serving. This helps the flavors come together.

Serving

  • Serve your homemade salsa with your favorite tortilla chips or use it as a topping for tacos, grilled meats, and more!

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days. Can be frozen in freezer-safe containers.
