Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients to make preparation seamless.
  • Remove the stems from the tomatoes and dice them into small pieces. If using canned tomatoes, drain excess liquid.
  • Dice the jalapeños, onion, and mince the garlic. Wear gloves when handling jalapeños to avoid spicy fingers.
  • In a large bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, jalapeños, onion, garlic, and chopped cilantro.
  • Squeeze fresh lime juice over the mixture and add salt to taste. Stir to combine.
  • Adjust lime, salt, or spice to your preference by tasting.
  • Let the salsa rest for at least 30 minutes at room temperature to allow flavors to meld together.
  • Enjoy the salsa with your favorite chips or as a topping for tacos, quesadillas, or grilled meats!

Notes

For a smokier flavor, try charring the tomatoes and jalapeños on a skillet before dicing. If you prefer a smoother salsa, blend the ingredients until you reach your desired consistency. Always taste as you go; cooking is a personal journey.
