Doughnut Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour plus more for kneading
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1 cup warm milk about 110°F (43°C)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened (plus extra for brushing)

Dinner Roll Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour plus more for kneading
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1 cup warm milk about 110°F (43°C)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened (plus extra for brushing)

Homemade Pizza Dough Instructions

  • Start by proofing the yeast. In a bowl, mix sugar, warm water, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it foams.
  • In another bowl, mix the flour, salt, and Italian seasoning if you are using it.
  • Combine the yeast mixture with the flour mixture and add olive oil.
  • Knead the dough until it becomes stretchy and smooth.
  • Let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  • After it has risen, stretch out the dough on a pizza stone or baking sheet.
  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  • Add your favorite toppings and bake for 10-12 minutes until the crust is golden brown.

Doughnut Instructions

  • Mix warm milk, sugar, salt, yeast, and egg in a large bowl.
  • Incorporate softened butter, then slowly add flour to form a soft dough.
  • Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it’s smooth.
  • Let it rest in a warm place until it doubles in size.
  • Roll the dough out and shape it into doughnut forms. Let them rise again.
  • Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350°F (180°C) and fry each doughnut for about 1.5 minutes on each side.
  • Glaze with a mixture of powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.

Dinner Roll Instructions

  • Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let it sit until foamy.
  • Add the egg, softened butter, salt, and flour gradually to form a dough.
  • Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  • Let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
  • Shape the dough into balls and place them in a greased pan. Let rise again.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-18 minutes, brushing with melted butter once they come out of the oven.

Notes

Use warm water, not hot, to activate the yeast. Knead well for a crispy crust. Experiment with different toppings for pizza and flavors for doughnuts. Store leftovers in an airtight container. You can prepare the dough ahead of time for both pizza and rolls.
