Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Cooking

  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  • Bring to a simmer.
  • Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Serving

  • Serve the sauce warm, garnished with fresh basil leaves.

Notes

Use fresh garlic and onions for the best flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to one week in the refrigerator or freeze for up to three months.
