Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Cinnamon Filling

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk for icing
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract for icing

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla. Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.

Baking

  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture, and then top with the remaining batter.
  • Swirl the batter with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Icing

  • For the icing, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Drizzle the icing over the cake once it’s cooled slightly.

Notes

Serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled. Pairs well with coffee or tea. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. Can freeze for up to 3 months.
