Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened, not melted.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs Beaten in one at a time.
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips You can experiment with different types of chocolate.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Baking

  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden.

Cooling

  • Allow to cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

To keep your cookies fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. You can freeze them for up to three months in a freezer-safe container. For chewier cookies, slightly underbake and use more brown sugar.
