  • 250 g unsalted butter Browned for added flavor.
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 50 g cornstarch
  • 1 pinch salt Omit if using salted butter.
  • to taste g extra sugar for rolling Optional for added sweetness.

Preparation

  • Start by browning the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden.
  • Once browned, chill the butter until it is firm.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the chilled butter with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until creamy.
  • Gradually mix in the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt to form a soft dough.
  • Shape the dough into a log, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  • Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).
  • Slice the chilled dough into 1 cm rounds and roll in extra sugar if desired.
  • Place the cookies on a baking tray and bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden.
  • Once baked, let them cool before enjoying!

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months. For added flavor, try almond extract or lemon zest.
