  • 4 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 2 cups pretzel twists
  • 2 cups candy corn (or any seasonal candy) Feel free to use any seasonal candy.
  • 1 cup peanuts (optional) Can be substituted with chocolate candies or pumpkin seeds.

Buttery Toffee Sauce

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup, stirring constantly until bubbly.
  • Add the vanilla extract and baking soda; the mixture will foam up.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the Chex cereal, pretzels, peanuts, and half of the candy corn. Pour the warm buttery mixture over and stir until well-coated.
  • Spread the mixture evenly onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
  • Once golden and aromatic, remove from oven and let it cool completely. Toss in remaining candy corn before serving.

Notes

For best results, don’t skip stirring during baking and avoid overcrowding the mixture. This mix can be made a day in advance and stored in an airtight container. It stays fresh for 1-2 weeks.
