For the Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room temperature butter for best texture.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Can substitute with brown sugar for added moisture.
  • 2 large eggs Add one at a time.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips Feel free to mix with different types of chocolate.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the semisweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the cookie dough.
  • For thicker cookies, chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough and place them onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and lightly golden brown.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
