Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat flour.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Can substitute with margarine.
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Can use almond extract as a substitute.
Glaze Ingredients
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk Adjust for desired consistency.
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
  6. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges turn lightly golden.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
Glazing
  1. For the glaze, mix together powdered sugar and milk in a bowl; add food coloring if desired.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookies and sprinkle with extra toppings, such as sprinkles or edible glitter.
  3. Let the glaze set before enjoying!

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze without glaze for up to three months, then thaw and glaze when ready to serve.
