Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1-2 inches fresh ginger root Peeled and sliced thinly.
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice Use more or less depending on preference.
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey Can experiment with different types.
  • 2 cups water Filtered water yields the best taste.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel about 1–2 inches of fresh ginger root and slice it thinly. The more surface area exposed, the stronger the tea will be.
  • Bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil in a saucepan.

Brewing

  • Add the sliced ginger to the boiling water. Allow it to simmer for about 10-15 minutes; the longer it simmers, the stronger the flavor will be.
  • Once you achieve your desired strength, remove the tea from the heat. Strain out the ginger and pour the liquid into your favorite mug.
  • Add the juice of half a lemon (or more, depending on your preference) and stir in 1–2 tablespoons of honey. Adjust to taste.

Serving

  • You can garnish it with a slice of lemon or a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra flair. Sip slowly and enjoy the warming benefits!

Notes

Make sure not to boil the ginger too vigorously; simmering gently extracts the essential oils without bitterness. Store any leftovers in the fridge for up to two days, reheating gently before serving.
