  • 1 pound pizza dough Store-bought or homemade
  • 1/4 cup olive oil For brushing on the dough
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced For flavoring the oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Cheeses
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For layering
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced For layering
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese For topping
Garnish
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil For garnish after baking

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle.
  3. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and dried oregano.
  4. Brush this flavorful garlic mixture over the dough, covering it well.
  5. Evenly sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the dough, making sure to leave some space around the edges.
  6. Lay down slices of fresh mozzarella on top of the shredded mozzarella.
  7. Roll the dough lengthwise into a log, creating a luscious spiral.
  8. Twist the log into a spiral shape and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Sprinkle the top with grated Parmesan cheese.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cheese has melted.
  2. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with chopped fresh basil, and let it cool for a few moments before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm with a side of marinara sauce for dipping or pair with a fresh salad. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. To reheat, bake at 350°F (180°C) for about 10 minutes.
