Dough and Filling
  • 1 lb pizza dough Store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup marinara sauce Can substitute with pesto or alfredo
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Can be replaced with other cheese types.
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil Fresh basil adds great flavor.
Seasoning and Topping
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Lightly flour a surface and roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle.
  3. Evenly spread the marinara sauce over the dough, ensuring to leave a border around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese all over the sauce, then add the grated parmesan and chopped basil.
  5. Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Once rolled, twist it into a knot shape.
  6. Transfer the knot to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  2. Brush the olive oil mixture generously over the pizza knot.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the knot is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  4. Allow it to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

You can pair this pizza knot with a fresh side salad or garlic dipping sauce. To store leftovers, place in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
