Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks) Use room temperature butter for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Can adjust based on taste.
  • 1.5 cups brown sugar Packed firmly.
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 tsp baking soda Substitute with baking powder if necessary.
  • 8 oz chopped chocolate Can use different types of chocolate.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Add the salt and eggs, and mix well until combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the chopped chocolate.
  • Scoop large balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them.

Baking

  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let them cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Cookies are best served warm. Store in an airtight container for about a week or freeze for up to three months. For extra flavor, you can add a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Don't overmix the dough to keep cookies soft.
