Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F) Ensure water is at the correct temperature for activating yeast.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted) Use additional for brushing after baking.

Garlic Butter Topping

  • 4-5 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and melted butter. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area until doubled in size, about 1-1.5 hours.

Shaping and Rising

  • Punch down the dough, divide it into 12 pieces, and shape into balls. Place on a baking sheet.
  • Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes until puffy.

Baking

  • In a saucepan, melt the remaining butter, add garlic, and cook for 1-2 minutes. Stir in parsley.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the rolls with garlic butter and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Brush with more garlic butter after baking.

Notes

These rolls can be served with soups, salads, or as a standalone treat. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze for longer storage.
