  • 6–8 medium medium fresh tomatoes, chopped About 2 pounds
  • 1/2 medium red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeño, seeds removed for mild, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
  • Juice of 2 limes Juice of 2 limes (around 3–4 tablespoons)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Optional Add-ins

  • Chopped mango or pineapple Add for a sweeter twist.

Preparation

  • Start by washing and chopping the tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, garlic, and cilantro. If you prefer a milder salsa, make sure to remove the jalapeño seeds.
  • In a large bowl, combine all the chopped ingredients: tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, garlic, and cilantro.
  • Next, add the lime juice, salt, cumin (if using), and apple cider vinegar. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.
  • For best flavor, let the salsa rest for 15–20 minutes before serving, allowing all the ingredients to meld beautifully.

Notes

For best results, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. Avoid reheating. You can freeze the salsa for up to 3 months, but the texture may change upon thawing.
