  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons) Ensure the yeast is fresh
  • 1.5 cups warm water Water should be warm, not hot
  • cornmeal Cornmeal for dusting For greasing the loaf pan

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast together.
  • Add the warm water and stir until combined.
  • Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Grease a loaf pan and dust it with cornmeal.
  • Pour the dough into the prepared loaf pan and let it rise again for 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let it cool before slicing.

Notes

Store the bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, wrap slices in plastic wrap and freeze. Customize with toppings as desired.
