  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Gradually added during whisking
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar Used to stabilize egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring To achieve desired shade

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean, dry bowl, whisk the egg whites until they become frothy.
  3. Add the cream of tartar and continue to whisk until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add the granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while whisking until the mixture is glossy and stiff peaks form.
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract and a few drops of green food coloring until well combined.
  6. Transfer the meringue mixture to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  7. Pipe the meringue into tree shapes on the prepared baking sheet.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1.5 to 2 hours, until the meringues are firm and can be easily lifted off the parchment.
  2. Turn off the oven and let the meringues cool inside for another hour.
Decoration
  1. Once cooled, decorate the meringue trees with sprinkles or edible decorations.
