Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean, dry bowl, whisk the egg whites until they become frothy.
- Add the cream of tartar and continue to whisk until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while whisking until the mixture is glossy and stiff peaks form.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and a few drops of green food coloring until well combined.
- Transfer the meringue mixture to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Pipe the meringue into tree shapes on the prepared baking sheet.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 1.5 to 2 hours, until the meringues are firm and can be easily lifted off the parchment.
- Turn off the oven and let the meringues cool inside for another hour.
Decoration
- Once cooled, decorate the meringue trees with sprinkles or edible decorations.
