Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Unroll the pre-bought pie dough and press it gently into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim any excess dough from the edges, then crimp the edges neatly around the pie plate.
Making the Filling
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the Grade A maple syrup, heavy cream, light brown sugar, eggs, melted and cooled butter, vanilla extract, and salt until the mixture is smooth and thoroughly combined.
Baking
- Pour the filling evenly into the prepared pie crust.
- Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes.
- At around the 30-minute mark, check the crust; if the edges are browning too quickly, cover them with foil to prevent burning.
- The filling should be set but may still have a slight jiggle in the center.
- Remove the pie from the oven and place it on a wire rack to cool for at least 2 hours.
Serving
- Once cooled, slice the pie and serve as is or topped with a dollop of maple whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
For a twist, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra warmth. Ensure your eggs are at room temperature for a smoother filling. Don't skip the cooling time—it’s crucial for the filling to set properly.
