Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed or grated Make sure the butter is cold for flaky biscuits.
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk with 1 tablespoon vinegar/lemon juice)

Optional Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese Optional add-in for extra flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Optional for added taste.
  • fresh herbs Optional, customize to your preference.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingertips until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually add the buttermilk and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!

Baking

  • Using a spoon or scoop, drop mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
  • For extra flavor, brush the tops with melted butter (optional).

Notes

These biscuits are best enjoyed warm right out of the oven. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days at room temperature or refrigerate for up to a week. Reheat before serving. Experiment with add-ins like cheese or herbs for extra flavor.
