Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar For rolling
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Coloring

  • Food coloring (gel or liquid, your choice) Add to dough for color

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and vegetable oil. Whisk until well blended.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract, whisking until everything is incorporated.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until no flour streaks remain, but do not overmix.
  • Divide the dough into portions and add your chosen food coloring to each. Mix until vibrant colors are achieved.
  • Roll small portions (about 1 tablespoon) into balls and coat them in powdered sugar.
  • Place the dough balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet with space between them.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and they begin to crack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-5 days or freeze for up to three months. Pair with milk or hot chocolate!
