Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Key for the best texture
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
Optional Add-ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Optional, can substitute with nuts or dried fruit
  • Sprinkles Optional for decoration

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until just combined. If desired, fold in chocolate chips and/or sprinkles.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze cookies in a single layer and transfer to a freezer bag for up to three months.
