  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Ensure the butter is unsalted for best flavor.
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Warm the butter and brown sugar together over medium heat in a saucepan. Stir gently as they melt and blend.
  • Slowly mix in the milk and let it bubble softly, stirring continuously for a couple of minutes to avoid sticking.
  • Take the saucepan off the stove and let it cool until it’s warm but not too hot to touch.
  • In a bowl, stir the cooled caramel mix with the powdered sugar and vanilla until silky smooth.
  • Spread the frosting on your treats right away or store it in a sealed container.

Notes

For a thicker frosting, add more powdered sugar to reach desired consistency. To loosen up thick frosting, add a splash of milk.
