Ingredients

For the Casserole

  • 7 cups frozen tater tots
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 8 oz softened cream cheese
  • 2 lbs lean ground beef Use ground turkey for a healthier option.
  • 1 packet (1 oz) Italian dressing mix
  • 1/2 cup beef broth

Instructions

Preparation

  • Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) so it’ll be hot and ready once you’re set to put everything together.
  • Toss ground beef into a big skillet set at medium. Break it up as it cooks, letting it brown completely. Once that’s done, pour off any extra grease.
  • In a bowl, stir together the Italian dressing mix, cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, melted butter, and cream cheese until everything’s super smooth and blended.

Assembly and Cooking

  • Take the cooked beef and toss it into a greased baking pan. Pour the sauce over it all, then gently mix so everything gets coated.
  • Spread frozen tater tots all over the top so you can’t see anything underneath. Make sure they’re nice and even.
  • Pop your dish in the hot oven and wait about 40 to 45 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when the tater tots look crispy and golden. Give it a minute or two to cool before you dig in.

Notes

Serve the casserole with a fresh green salad or steamed veggies. Optionally, add crispy fried onions on top before serving. To store leftovers, place the cooled casserole in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
