  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • 8 pieces hot dog buns
Batter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal

  • 1 cup milk

  1. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until everything is well combined.
  2. Shape this mixture into 8 equal portions.
  3. Wrap each portion around a hot dog, ensuring it’s completely covered.
  4. Top each hot dog with a slice of American cheese and then wrap them in hot dog buns.
Cooking
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer to 350°F.
  2. In another bowl, whisk the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, milk, and eggs until the batter is smooth.
  3. Dip each corn dog into the batter, coating it thoroughly.
  4. Carefully place them in the hot oil, frying until golden brown, which usually takes about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Once done, remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
