Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 15.25 oz Chocolate Cake Mix Use a good quality cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup oil Vegetable or canola oil works well
  • 1/2 cup water

For the Filling and Topping

  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 bars milk chocolate Hershey bars Melted for the filling
  • 2 cups heavy whipped cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder Unsweetened
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • optional Toppings Chocolate chips, crushed cookies, or nuts

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven as directed on the cake mix package. Grease and flour a baking pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine chocolate cake mix, eggs, oil, and water. Mix until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake according to package instructions.

Filling

  • Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool slightly. Poke holes all over the cake using the end of a wooden spoon or a fork.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the sweetened condensed milk and 2 melted milk chocolate Hershey bars. Pour the mixture over the warm cake, ensuring it fills the holes.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely.

Topping

  • In another bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  • Spread the chocolate cream over the cooled cake.
  • Add additional toppings if desired, and refrigerate for a few hours before serving.

Notes

Make sure to poke enough holes in the cake to allow the chocolate mixture to soak through. Use good quality chocolate for the filling and topping to enhance the flavor. Consider sprinkling chocolate chips or crushed cookies on top for added texture.
