Preparation
  1. Set oven to 325°F (160°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and powdered sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla and orange zest, mixing well.
  4. Gradually mix in flour and salt until a dough forms.
  5. Roll the dough to 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface and cut with cookie cutters into desired shapes.
  6. Place cookies on lined baking sheets and chill for 15 minutes to firm the dough.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool completely on wire racks.
  9. Melt dark chocolate and dip half of each cooled cookie.
  10. Garnish with extra zest or sea salt if desired.
  11. Let chocolate set fully before stacking and serving.
