  • 1 lb ground beef Browned in a skillet
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced Ensure they are sliced evenly for uniform cooking
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or your choice
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Can substitute with vegetable soup for a vegetarian option
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 small onion, chopped Optional ingredient

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet, cook the ground beef and onions (if using) over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup and milk.
  3. In the crockpot, layer half of the potatoes, followed by half of the ground beef mixture, and half of the cheese. Repeat the layers.
  4. Pour the soup mixture over the top and season with salt and pepper.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the potatoes are tender.

Notes

This casserole can be paired with a fresh green salad, garlic bread, or steamed vegetables. For a spicy kick, use pepper jack cheese or add diced jalapeƱos.
