Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Rinse the Brussels sprouts and trim the ends. Cut each sprout in half, ensuring they are of similar size for even cooking.
  • In a large bowl, toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder until they are well coated.

Cooking

  • Spread the sprouts flat on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Ensure they have a little space between them to achieve that irresistible crispiness.
  • Roast in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, turning them halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • In a small saucepan, combine balsamic vinegar and honey over medium heat and allow it to simmer for 3-5 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  • Once the Brussels sprouts are done baking, drizzle the balsamic-honey reduction over the top and toss to coat evenly.
  • Return the dish to the oven for another 2-3 minutes to allow the glaze to adhere.
  • Serve immediately with a sprinkle of fresh herbs or red pepper flakes for some extra flair.

Notes

Ensure not to overcrowd the baking sheet for optimal crispiness. Fresh sprouts yield the best texture and flavor. You can substitute Brussels sprouts for cauliflower or asparagus if desired.
