Base Ingredients

  • 4 cups Ripe tomatoes, diced Opt for ripe tomatoes to ensure sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup Fresh cilantro, minced Can substitute with parsley or basil.
  • 1 whole Jalapeño, diced Remove seeds for a milder flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Red onion, finely chopped Can substitute with yellow onions or green onions.
  • 1 tbsp Lime juice Use freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • 1 clove Garlic, minced Fresh garlic provides more vibrant flavor.
  • 1 tsp Salt Can substitute with sea salt or kosher salt.

Preparation

  • Rinse the tomatoes, jalapeños, and cilantro. Dice the tomatoes and jalapeños, finely chop the red onion, and mince the garlic.

Mixing

  • In a mixing bowl, add the diced tomatoes, jalapeños, onion, garlic, and minced cilantro.
  • Squeeze fresh lime juice over the mixture and sprinkle with salt.

Finalizing

  • Gently toss all the ingredients together using a spatula. Taste your salsa and adjust the seasoning as needed.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a deeper flavor, you can roast the tomatoes, garlic, and jalapeños on a skillet until their skins are slightly charred.
