For the sauce

  • 6 tbsp butter unsalted is preferred
  • 1 tbsp garlic minced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp flour all-purpose
  • 1 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 1/2 cup milk whole milk is recommended
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese grated

Preparation

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and add garlic, cooking until fragrant.
  • Stir in garlic powder and salt.
  • Add flour and whisk continuously for about a minute until it forms a roux.
  • Gradually add heavy cream and milk, whisking until smooth.
  • Allow the mixture to simmer gently until it thickens.
  • Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  • Serve over your favorite pasta.

Notes

Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the best flavor. Whisk continuously when adding milk to prevent lumps. If the sauce is too thick, add a little more milk to reach your desired consistency. This sauce can also be enhanced with cooked chicken or shrimp.
