Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Don’t overmix the dough after adding the flour; mix just until combined.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips For extra flavor, try using different types of chocolate chips.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend this into the creamed mixture.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and cool on wire racks.

Notes

Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them soft and chewy. For longer storage, refrigerate or freeze them in a freezer-safe bag. Make sure to space the cookies out on the tray to allow for spreading while baking.
