  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened, but not melted.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips You can substitute with milk or dark chocolate chips.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with a glass of milk. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze them for up to three months. Refrigerating the dough for up to 2 days can enhance flavor.
