Ingredients
  

Cookie Base

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour Do not over-mix when adding.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, add the vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix!
  • Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each ball.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers are soft.
  • Let them cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to finish cooling.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week or freeze in a freezer-safe bag for longer preservation. For chewier cookies, consider chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
