Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Feel free to use whole wheat flour for a nuttier flavor.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed Ensure the butter is super cold for flaky crisps.
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
Topping Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for sprinkling)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for sprinkling)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or fork, mixing until you have a texture resembling coarse crumbs.
  4. Add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing gently until the dough comes together.
  5. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll it into a 12-inch square, about 1/8 inch thick.
  6. Lightly brush the surface with water and sprinkle evenly with brown sugar.
  7. In a separate bowl, combine the ground cinnamon and granulated sugar, then sprinkle this mixture over the brown sugar.
  8. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough into small rectangles or diamond shapes.
  9. Carefully transfer the pieces to an ungreased baking sheet, separating them slightly.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and crisp.
  11. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Storing your Crisps is easy. Place them in an airtight container and keep at room temperature for about a week. For longer storage, freeze them separated by parchment paper.
