  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips Consider using dark chocolate or other varieties for customization.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Beat in the egg until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Cookies are best served warm. They can be enjoyed alone or with cold milk and pair well with ice cream. Store in an airtight container to maintain softness. These cookies are customizable, so feel free to add nuts or dried fruit.
