Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure your butter is softened for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Don’t overmix the dough after adding the flour.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips For extra flavor, try using a mix of dark and milk chocolate chips.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually blend into the creamed mixture.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned.
  • Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Serve these cookies warm or at room temperature. They can also be paired with a cold glass of milk or make delicious ice cream sandwiches. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week; freeze for longer storage.
