  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Chocolate Chips

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips Using high-quality chocolate chips enhances flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, use a mixer to cream the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  • Beat in the vanilla, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Gradually blend in the flour mixture.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze them in a zip-top bag for about three months.
